Man you are changing hair colors like developers testing light and dark mode.
Response to that other React Native video coming this week. Know that I’m disappointed in their lack of research and consistent factual errors. I hate picking on smaller creators, but holy hell was that a tragedy.
I wouldn't use the Windows start menu as a good example of React Native in use.
I'm so happy I was so late to start using react native because those early years looked rough
i saw a video recently where he showed that react native is actually not being used as much as people say it is. It also included your videos as reference. How do you feel about that?
Wait, You can't say instagram needs to compile in days. and then don't elaborate haha
Theo with all due respect: 7:40 you mentioned that React Native is versatile enough to be used with both Native and Web code. This on paper makes sense but in reality is a nightmare to handle. Instead of worrying now about a single tech stack you need to worry about three the minute you pop the RN layer this is why specifically the AirBnB devs hated. I just wished you would be more transperent about this.
Back in the day although there was React Native in its infancies, I was doing "cross platform support" using only Unity, providing support for Windows, Linux, iOS and Android (sometimes even more). It was great for how volatile the business decisions would change the business logic and be able to deploy those changes seamlessly across all platforms. There was often edge cases to deal with platform specific drivers, but the Unity marketplace had a lot of that already solved. The downside to this being that a game engine deploy of an event based mobile app often used more batteries and processing than needed on a mobile device (and desktop as well). There are tries to optimize this for Unity but there is a limit to how much you can optimize compared to other tech stacks.
Instagram compile time takes days?!?!
Looking forward to that differences between Mobile and Web
