I'm 84. I was a nurse and damaged my spine in the days when no lifting gear and health and safety existed. I gardened, had an allotment and cared for grandchildren in my retirement. Why WASTE energy in gyms when you can do your elderly neighbours shopping, help a single parent with a special needs child or any productive activity. I'd rather live a life that had good outcomes for myself AND others and die early than obsess on how long I live. Today it's all ME ME ME. You may live long and lonely. Take care of yourself but do it to help others as well.
My husband is diagnosed with cancer. Can all of you whisper a prayer for him. Thanks

I had a friend that started swimming 3 times a week at 75 yrs old because she didn’t want to use a cane. I watched her her younger for the next 10 yrs - it was amazing -she lived to be 96 yrs old and only declined in the last 6-8 months
My 88 year old mom, who still goes to the gym 3x a week. Has always said, "Treat your body like a Cadillac, and you'll never end up with a jalopy."

I think you're an excellent host Steven, not ashamed to ask simple questions for our - the audience's - sake, rather than show off how knowledgeable you are. We know that you know many of these things already. Likewise, thanks for facilitating and letting the quests speak rather than competing for the spotlight. You're appreciated for doing your role so well.
Im am absolutely amazed by how well she is able to remember all of these studies.
My grandmother ate bread, and pasta, and had chocolates in front of the telly everyday. She smoked a couple of ciggies a day although she kept it a secret in her grandmother years. She often had a job doing menial work to supplement the family income. She lived to 98. When I think about why, from what I know about her life, I think it's for these reasons: she laughed and made everyone else laugh every single day - right up to her last day on earth. She ate a good balanced diet, as well as the bread pasta and chocolate. She never pursued money, power or status. She loved her grandchildren and had them with her most days, whilst parents worked or had to do other things. She cooked at home. Eating out was a treat. She lived through the depression so she was hungry but not starving every day for those years in her youth, which gave her mitochondria a reset. She played tennis regularly and gardened. She never stopped running around doing incidental exercise for herself and her family. Even though she broke her kneecap in four different places after a slip, and her knee would give out on her every now and again, she never stopped moving. She was kind, empathetic and generous. She was a great example of how to live a long happy life.
