The sheer audacity these live trial videos give me to think I'd be able to question a witness better than this professional lawyer 😅
"Why kill the wife and kid?" Good question, but also... "why steal from your partners and family while you're making millions every year?"
4:07:28 theory: Maggie found out about the money issues, confronted Alex. Alex was arguing and wanted to stop Maggie from turning him in and Paul got in front of Maggie and took the bullet. The gun got jammed, he grabbed another and killed Maggie before she got away. I watch too much tv.
I’m joining very late, but I’m hearing you say the Prosecution never asked Smith why she called her brother. They DID ask her and her muted reply (and prosecutor talking over her) was “ because I was nervous.”!!!! And he just kept going, entirely missing that reply, and defense didn’t ask her in cross…
I want to point out that Alex telling his mom's caretaker that he knows her boss is an incredibly sneaky manipulative thing to say because it could both be interpreted as an offer to help ("If you do what I say I can help you advance your career") and a threat ("if you don't do what I say I can get you fired"). I can't believe we belong to the same species.
Omg I can't believe they've been spending what feels like 2 hours listing every single penny he stole, but rushed through Miss Shelly's testimony about how he wanted her to fabricare aliby for him for the time of the murder and pay her off within 5 minutes.
I can't express enough how much I appreciate having @LawLumber Rob's running commentary in the chat while watching this.
I bet you Jeanne didn’t think she would end up testifying at the murder trial when all that went down
Some of these people were survivors of clients who died. I thank God for ethical people every day. They are often all that stand for those who passed.
3:42:27 you can tell this is a woman who has stood in a room full of good ol boys and held her ground many of times. So powerful
