Here are the major changes in milk that need to be addressed, according to the video: *1. Differences between A1 and A2 milk:* The video highlights that most milk consumed in the United States comes from cows that produce A1 type milk, which is genetically different from A2 milk. This difference lies in their protein structures, particularly the presence of a peptide called BCM7 in A1 milk. *2. Digestive discomfort and inflammation:* Studies cited in the video indicate that A1 milk consumption is linked to increased digestive discomfort, inflammation markers, and poorer gastrointestinal function compared to A2 milk. These issues occur regardless of lactose intolerance. *3. Cognitive performance:* Research suggests that A1 milk may negatively impact cognitive function, leading to slower performance and higher error rates in cognitive tests, whereas A2 milk does not show these negative effects. *4. BCM7 peptide:* The BCM7 peptide found in A1 milk is identified as a potential concern. Studies suggest it may have immunosuppressive effects in the gut, opioid-like effects that could influence glucose levels, and the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier, potentially affecting neuronal cells and neurogenesis. *5. Potential link to type 1 diabetes and psycho-motor development:* Observational studies suggest a correlation between early childhood consumption of A1 cow milk and an increased risk of type 1 diabetes later in life. Additionally, cow milk formula with higher BCM7 levels is associated with delayed psycho-motor development in infants. *6. Gene expression changes:* A meta-analysis mentioned in the video indicates that BCM7 may alter gene expression in neuronal and gastrointestinal epithelial cells, potentially impacting their development and function, and possibly linked to gut inflammation and disease. *7. Gut microbiome impact:* Research shows that A2 milk consumption can lead to a more favorable gut microbiome profile, increasing short-chain fatty acids and beneficial bacterial colonies, unlike A1 milk. The video advocates for greater awareness and a shift towards consuming A2 milk due to these potential health concerns associated with A1 milk. It also highlights companies like *Pioneer Pastures* that are producing and promoting A2 milk products.
Costco has a Kirkland A2 Organic Milk. I've been using it for a few months now. I hope more people get it so the demand goes up.
Based on some of your previous videos and a bit of experimentation we switched our milk to A2 completely just before Xmas and the difference has been dramatic. Being in Canada we do pay a bit of a premium but the milk is fantastic and almost matches your Pioneer brand sponsor from a few limited suppliers. This needs to be more commonly known. Thanks Thomas.
How about doing a deep dive into the differences between pasteurized A2 milk and raw A2 milk?
Awesome video! I got our kids off regular milk and their skin cleared up and a lot less gas! Thank you! A2!!!!
Thank you! I appreciate the way you present new info. I love the "vote with your dollars" approach to making healthy changes in our societies,
Interesting video. I found a long time ago that goat and sheep's milk products caused fewer blood sugar and digestive problems for me. Both are A2 milk products.
There is a dairy brand in Texas called Promised Land, which is A2 milk because they use Jersey Cows for their milk, so if the milk is coming from Jersey Cows it is A2 milk too even if it is not labeled. Jersey Cows produce better tasting milk too.
I live in Barbados now and get fresh unpasteurized goats milk weekly. Me and my pups love it!
My son (now an adult) had to be taken off milk at an early age, less than a year old. After that (GI issues) he developed a delay in motor skills and I had to intervene. The doctor said he would Not be able to walk properly if he did not successfully crawl and practice crawling. So I got down with him on the floor and moved his limbs in a crawl until he took it over himself. He is not an athlete but also was not crippled. Whew.
