I think this mathematical discovery has applications in finance, signal processing (radar, sonar, robotics sense of touch, pain etc.) and maybe AI alignment.

I'm doing maths at work. GPT 5.2 Pro is smarter discussing maths than most of our employees with PhDs. It's probably smarter than me. But the thing is that it cannot do anything on its own. You have to ask it the right questions, and be able to interpret what it's telling you. It did generate a useful mathematical model for me, which I am going to apply to a real world problem. It would take me a week or a month to come up with something like this by myself with pen and paper.
