Wild and fascinating topic. Giant viruses blur the line between viruses and cells because some carry genes for parts of protein making and DNA repair. That is why they keep showing up in origin of life conversations.

Omg! I grew up in a city called Ryugasaki, which borders Ushiku! It was about 5 minutes away by car, or maybe a 30 minute ride away on a bicycle from my childhood home. Never did I ever imagine hearing that name again!
