This is becoming a pattern with Anthropic. First there were concerns about monitoring users and building systems that can report or intervene based on what the AI thinks is happening. Now we have reports that their models may silently degrade, steer, or manipulate responses around AI research without clearly telling users. The problem isn't safety filters. If a company wants to refuse a request, be honest and refuse it. The problem is hidden intervention. Once an AI can secretly change what information you receive, you've crossed from safety into manipulation. Anthropic keeps claiming it's about protecting the public, but somehow the restrictions apply to everyone except the large AI labs, governments, and powerful institutions that continue using the most advanced capabilities themselves. That's a double standard. People should be paying attention. The danger isn't AI itself. The danger is a small group of companies deciding what knowledge is allowed, what research is acceptable, and what information users can access without ever being told it's being filtered. Every new controversy makes it harder to trust Anthropic's claims about transparency. At some point people need to ask a simple question: if an AI company is willing to secretly alter responses today for AI research, what stops them from doing the same tomorrow for politics, business, science, or public opinion?
Yesterday I was using Fable 5 through my max 20x plan on extra high and it was great...today i have had my usage so limited that i cant even use Opus 4.8 on high. My max plan literraly just became useless overnight and now I cant even work
Hey Matt, just received your newsletter, yes you convinced me to use local model, however, you may make a video to teach us how to run it, thanks!
ANYTHING BIOLOGICAL OR BIOLOGY BASED, boots you off and restarts Opus.
Anthropic has a god complex. That mentality is dangerous.
Hello from Greece. I want to bring your attention to the fact that "Fable" is the translation for the GREEK word "Mythos." :) Thank you
I was talking to Fable about my own past drug use and it kicked me down to opus, doesn't even come close to any stated safety concern
Anthropic sells we are the good guys- but who gets to say what is good? No villan ever thinks they are a villain. Even the most heinous monsters think what they are doing is for a greater good.
So⦠Dario is Saruman now? No more Gandalf? Ah, the heartbreak. I suppose this is the chapter where Animal Farm begins to make more sense than The Lord of the Rings.
