Everyone knows that the dishes that are in their own separate cabinet, room, or behind glass are not for everyday use. Those are the fancy dish ware. You don’t touch the fancy stuff.

First Story, NTA: OP told her friend to use anything in the kitchen but she went out of her way to go to a different room, open a glass door, and use the pot. This is the friend's responsibility and she needs to pay for it

Story 2 is yet another example of why homeschooling needs MASSIVE oversight. Those kids are being neglected.

Story 1.) Tell the friend to come over and make herself some tea with the teapot she ruined, and if she can make the soap taste go away, she doesn't have to pay. Plain and simple. End of the day she knows she messed up because she was willing to replace it, until she saw the price tag and immediately backtracked.
