Well, I am back on carnivore ... again. Hoping that I can stick to it this time. Really tough to avoid snacking, but been getting better everytime I try. Just placed an order for 15kgs of 70/30 ground beef with 5kg cubed bacon mixed in from the local butcher. Bought a couple ribeyes and a pork belly for the weekend while I wait for the beef. Also bought 30 eggs and 6 sticks of butter. I feel prepared. Got heavy cream and coffee for the mornings, spent the last two weeks getting myself down to the one cup in the morning. Super excited to be trying this again.
Dr Chaffee, have you considered mentioning high quality water filters. The crap in our drinking water may be affecting peoples carnivore journey adversely.
Been following for a long time. You cured my IBS, and arthritis in my fingers. Along with a few other surprising benefits. I just saw your store. There is no price I can put on how you’ve unknowingly helped me. I’m happy to buy a few shirts here in Canada. Nowhere near enough compensation for what you’ve done and what you continue to do though. Cheers Colin
We get told to drink drink drink water water water water......hence we're flushing out our electrolytes. This trend to keep drinking when not thirsty needs to be addressed.
I've started taking iodine about 3 weeks ago. I don't eat much seafood at all. Muscle twitches and heart flutters have dropped considerably. Most people are deficient.
I've been mostly carnivore for just over a year, and I'm still putting electrolytes in my water, after watching this, I'm thinking maybe it's time to stop, and see how I feel without them. I've also been dumping oxalates, mainly from my eyes, for the best part of the year, it comes and goes, with a slow decrease in intensity, it was pretty brutal at first. I'm feeling much better in general though, and my mental health is amazing. I've lost a bit of weight, but have a lot more to go. This year, I think, my body has been doing a lot of healing, rather than releasing weight, which is fine, I think this has saved my life, or at least extended it and saved me from years of chronic illness, which is where I was heading.
In NZ there is no iodine in the soil, so I have to supplement. I live by the sea so periodically add dried seaweed (I dehydrate my own) into stews and bone broth, as well as iodine drops into my water. I also filter my drinking water (to remove all the toxic chemicals they put in tap water) so must add mineral drops or I get cramps. I'm 5 years carnivore so don't need as much salt/mineral drops as I did when I started, but I notice my requirements change with exercise. Just be mindful of how you feel and adjust accordingly. x
I’ve eaten keto/carnivore for several years. I have been strictly carnivore for about 6 weeks. I have had a long term need for high electrolytes. I have gastroparesis and a hiatal hernia and I think that is why. I make my own with Redmond salt, magnesium calm and potassium chloride and have the equivalent of three LMNTs a day in addition to the sodium I use in my food. I add iodine drops (3, 2%) to my electrolytes and a lipid selenium. I also take hydrochloric acid with betaine about 3000 mg with each meal. I still awaken with some fatigue and swollen eyes but feel so much better and am not bed bound anymore. I formerly had cancer with chemo, radiation, breast and lymph node removal, so my issues were deep. I am looking forward to the Spring as sungazing has been one of the most beneficial practices I do. I hope I continue to feel better with time. I still have alternating constipation with diarrhea but bloating is way down.
Carnivore 8 years here. I still add sea mineral drops to my water and eat salt. Otherwise I get leg cramps in my calves or feet in the early morning hours.
I take iodine drops and I put sea salt in my water… problem solved!
