The directors were literally given characters. Story, dialogue, plot. And chose to go in the complete opposite direction. They could have even used the actors from it. There are so few connections used in this it makes the people who actually played the game so beyond disappointed. This makes the Minecraft movie look poetic
Dr Hill isn’t even actually there at all during the game events, he’s just Josh hallucinating, yet they made him the main villain? Bizarre.
The fact they didn’t get Rami Malik is crazy
This might be a case of a script was written for a different horror film, producers liked it, but they decided to incorporate an IP they had rights to in order to push sales.
My favourite part is when John Untildawn said " We have to survive Until Dawn" and then everyone cheered up, truly the most original horror movie of all time
i hate when writers and directors thinks they knew better than the audience, saying that "this will be better than the source material, this will be different, this will be revolutionary" while in fact, they are actually butchering the story and the reason the audience and fans loved about it in the first place, looking at you halo
They clearly never played the games, because the death respawns were the exact opposite of what happens
The player: Remember when the game was about literal Wendigo, killing teenagers and the red herring was that the friend was playing as a serial killer to get revenge for the two sisters who fell off a cliff because he though the friends spooked them but instead got scared of that said Wendigo? Are you going to put that in the movie and be true to the source material? Director: when did that happen?
This concept would have been amazing as a 13 ep tv series. Each episode ending in their deaths, and they find out more about the lore and has more character development as well. Missed opportunity imo
This is a movie that should have been picked up by Netflix where the viewer chooses the path at significant points
