This movie really doesn't deserve the hate it gets. I always found it entertaining.
I briefly met Brandon about 8 years ago, and it was a fun interaction .... 8 years later, he saw me at another show and called me by name. "Gary!!!"
My favorite scene in this movie is when Superman is lifting the island, knowing itโs practically made of kryptonite, and he may die. Itโs such an amazing moment because it shows what Superman is willing to give to protect humanity.
This has aged beautifully. Great superman movie. Great superman, great villain.
It's always been a surprise to me that people seem to skip over or completely miss the more solemn introspective nature of this film. It portrays the loneliness that Clark feels and how his godlike status and protector of Earth keeps him separate from the human connection that he longs for so much. The scene where he's hovering over Earth with his cape floating behind him and he's listening to all of the cries for help while remembering the words of his father is probably my favorite Superman scene in any movie ever.
It's one of the best Superman movies. It deserved a sequel. In another parallel earth it happened and it was epic!
The airplane sequence is still arguably the greatest live action 'Superman' sequence ever put to film to this day.
Noel Niel played Gertrude. The dying old lady who leaves her millions to Lex Luther, she was the original Lois Lane from the 1950's. The bartender who gave Clark a drink is Jack Larson. He was the original Jimmy Olsen from the 1950's. It will have been their final appearance in a Superman movie. They have passed away.
"Have you got them?" Gave the man a moment to feel like he matters and is active in saving his own family without degrading him to a passive role.Total Superman moment.
The words he says to his son at the end are peak Superman.
