Knew him for 25 years and he has a 19-year-old son he didn't tell OP about? How does one even keep such a big secret from their husband?

"Just a kid" SHE'S 21! hat's NOT a kid, that is fully, legally an adult. She can literally legally drink! That is no longer a kid, that is a fully fledged adult.

Story 2: He really ought to teach Joe to not throw slurs around, because what happens the day Joe has to live away from his dad, gets a new job, and then throws a slur. Yeah, he's doomed. 19 is WELL old enough to know you don't do that, especially in a professional setting

I love how often people use "blood is thicker than water" to justify family ties. It's the shortened form of "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb": bonds forged through shared struggles/ found family has stronger ties than actual family.

If your family left you on the street there is no reason to continue talking to them let alone pressure you into doing something you don't want to do.

Story 1: Ummm…idk if this is a “hot take” but i feel Op actually UNDERREACTED in this situation…not wanting to marry a RELATIVE is pretty normal… Op is NTA, her Aunt is insane and her cousin is a complete creep.

Story 2: Hiding that you have a kid from your spouse is a big deal and already in divorce territory as far as I'm considered, hiding it when it's someone in your/their life is inexcusable and I'm not sure how you can trust that person ever again. Story 3: As soon as someone is trying to send a message there is no excuse, no fall back, no nothing they MUST be punished.

The family reunion story makes me sick. A few months back, my wife & I found out a friend of hers was being evicted on the day it was happening. Without hesitation, I looked up her workplace address & booked a hotel for the week (we live 2k miles away) & my wife agreed it was the right call. That wasn't even family. Only a psychopath would be okay with a family member sleeping in their car, subject to a variety of dangers.

So not only does your husband not defend you when you're clearly uncomfortable and being called slurs, he keeps a HUGE secret for nearly two decades. Divorce yesterday
