Fun Fact, Judi Dench & Geoffrey Palmer spent about 10 seasons playing a couple in a British Comedy "As Time Goes By" in 1997 it was at the height of its popularity so to see them as "M" and the Admiral was surreal.
Sadly, Desmond Llewelyn, who plays Q, is nearing the end of his time in the role at this point. He did one more Bond film. Pierce Brosnan’s 3rd entry, The World Is Not Enough. He died shortly after that film was completed. He was without a doubt the best Q by far and had one hell of a run. Amazing actor.
this movie hits way harder in the "post truth" world we live in today.
Definitely my favourite Brosnan Bond and top tier overall Bond for me. A lot of that is due to the awesome Michelle Yeoh (already a big action star in Asia) but also some top notch action, brisk pace, a gorgeous David Arnold score and the sleek look to the whole production.
That damn High Sparrow Swan always causing trouble.
Fun fact: the Scottish guy on the HMS Devonshire (the boat that sinks right after the opening credits) ("We're down 14 degrees by the stern!") is Gerard Butler. And one of the crewmen on the HMS Bedford at the end of the film is Hugh Bonneville, who plays the patriarch on "Downton Abbey". Speaking of which, the Minister of Defence is played by Julian Fellowes, who created and wrote "Downton Abbey".
"Tomorrow Never Dies" became my favorite Bond film of all time, as Brosnan had the confidence and swagger that I didn't realize was missing from "Goldeneye." I was so stoked for this one because I had the soundtrack from David Arnold 2 weeks ahead of release, and was excited for the music to return to John Barry's form. Brosnan just delivered a brilliant and flawless performance which cemented him as my favorite Bond of all time.
I saw this on vacation in Hong Kong, and Bond being confused by the mandarin keyboard got a huge audience laugh.
“There’s no news like BAD news” And just like that the movie secured itself as timeless.
