Fun fact: the last research paper Kathleen Booth published, in 1993 at age 71, was titled ‘Using neural nets to identify marine mammals’
The skateboarding tangent was good - its also perfectly describing the "hacker mindset" of "How can I use this in ways it wasnt intended/to my needs". A curious way of thinking is the root of creativity in general.
OMG??? IM ON TWO THEO VIDEOS???
Huge props for putting his sponsor links in the description 👏
"DENNIS RITCHIE" picture of Brian Kernighan

Great video and I always learn some new things in the skateboard rants 😎
wasnt expecting the skateboard lore, but now that i know i finally get my skater friends. sick
Absolutely continue tangenting into skateboarding. It’s a really good metaphor for progression in general whether it’s skateboarding or computer science. It really puts into perspective why a kid getting on a skateboard in 2024 is able to progress at such a higher level than a kid getting on a skateboard in 1992. The same can somewhat be said for programming, at least what you’re able to accomplish given the same amount of energy. I also respect the Gonz mention. He was/is absolutely incredible.
