Yea I Agree how the villains were super weak. Gyutaro seemed like much more of a threat than Gyokko & Hantengu combined
I actually agree. It felt a little anticlimatic. But, I feel like this is really setting up for the next season.
As a manga reader, even before season 3 started I knew it wasn't going to be as compelling as the Entertainment District arc. To a certain extent, the animators kinda have to work with what they're given, but the final arc will be insane to see animated so I'm really looking forward to that
Demon Slayer is probably one of the only shows where every episode feels high quality and like something you’d see in a theater. All of the fight scenes are so beautiful and blow you away
I think upper 4 and 5 weren't fleshed because they were just unredeemable evil. The upper 3 to 1 have amazing back stories and I'm sure you'll enjoy them. Also 4 and 5 feel a lot less threatening because Tengen(even if I love him) was in the lower echelon of hashiras. While here we have Muichiro and Mitsuri with a mark that skyrockets them to an immense power level
A big point of this arc was to show how incredibly strong the demon slayer marks are. Without his mark, Muichiro would’ve either lost, or struggled significantly harder against Gyokko. If Tengen was marked, he likely would’ve stomped Gyutaro with little difficulty.
8:05 Just a small correction. Gyokko didn't want to kill Haganezuka but rather injure him enough to make him lose focus because Gyokko felt insulted by his pride as an artist.
Charlie’s biggest criticism being the villains is a good sign that he is going to love Season 4. The final arc of Demon Slayer is absolutely insane in no small part to how devastatingly powerful and terrifying the villains are, especially Upper Rank 1.
In my opinion, this season was meant to show the tipping of the power scale, which we would eventually be led in later seasons not to be the case. It greatly displayed the power of the Demon Slayer Mark, hence the swift disposal of Gyokko and partially that of Hantengu. Though we were able to constantly observed the Mark with Tanjiro, but he can only partially use it with Hinokami Kagura unlike the Hashiras who used it with their respective breathing technique that they have mastered.
One issue for me seemed like the leap in power through the seasons. Tanjiro was never mentioned to have ever tried/attempted to use the thunder breathing technique, yet he was still able to pull it off. Somehow Nezuko gained complete control over her most powerful state, even though last season she was foaming at the mouth to eat humans. I don’t know, it just seems like there was a whole other season in between the Entertainment District arc and the newest one.
