There's a term that kept popping up in my head: glass cliff. Currently it refers to women of color (WOC), but initially was coined for women in general or other minorities, when they are placed in a leadership position, but the corporation provides no support for them. It tends to happen when there is a crisis, so typical candidates do not want to take the leadership position because they are concerned it is doomed to fail, but the minority candidate goes for it because they assume it's their one opportunity to reach for the position. The corporation is more willing to take this minority candidate, because their usual candidates don't want it, it grabs them publicity/diversity points, and if the minority candidate fails, they can allow folks to blame the 'diversity hire'.
Thank you for getting these experts--the quality of the producing team for The Daily Show Team is that they find experts who are not only well, expert, but also engaging and able to connect with humanity and humor. Tons of props goes to Roy Wood, Jr. for studying up and asking the right questions. Praise, praise, praise!
I don’t even like football, but this show is so stinking important!
Roy is hilarious and EXCELLENT at this shi. He has to be next in line at TDS. And about the ep great interviews but you can def tell coach didn't wanna say too much since she's in the shi
What would have happened, if the Rooney rule had asked to interview all eligible black candidates rather than one?
Roy is an excellent interviewer! Very impressive.
This is one of the most enlightening and extremely needed interviews I’ve seen in a very long spell. The Q&A was literally a Wimbledon Classic on the 8!!!! Much appreciated!!!!
Not a traditional sports fan, but what a powerful conversation. Lots of great discussion about what it really means to have fairness in sports.
Well Collette is on the ball! Dayum! No nonsense, insightful and beautiful! Tell her a Comptonian approves! Great post. ✌
For the first time ever, I was able to listen to two grown men talking about ... SPORTS! Thank you for finally making the topic of football palatable!
