A lot of fitness “influencers” are falling victim to the same pitfalls and vices that have destroyed the health of bodybuilders for decades. Too many prioritize appearance at the expense of true health and wellness (and I imagine that just like with bodybuilders, having your income tied to appearance plays a big role).
I fried my HPA Axis from too much HIIT and not consuming enough calories/fasting back in 2020. My sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system became completely deregulated. I too have lost nearly 100lbs and struggled with body dysmorphia. Once I made it to a healthy weight with a solid physique, I never ate enough calories to replace my energy expenditure and kept going hard to keep a six pack. It took me over a year to recover and be able to workout again. I always take things to an extreme and learned a hard lesson. I thought I was healthy, but actually I was orthorexic.
HAZELNUT SPREAD?!?! never have I been so excited for an ad before……..
Has there ever been a study looking at 90 and 100-year-olds to see what they did in their lives? In other words, how many professional football players or professional weightlifters or professional basketball players or other athletes? Long distance runners swimmers, whatever it is made it to 90 or 100? My guess is most 90 or 100-year-olds lived fairly average mediocre lives and they were not incredibly active for their entire lives or even a portion of them.
The sweet spot is at 70%-80%. Anything above 80% starts the diminishing returns. Anything below 70% starts the decomposition effects. 50% is equilibrium with a finite lifespan. You need Eustress above 50% to affect/effect extend lifespan/adaptation/health. So the sweet spot is at 70%-80%. Anything above 80% are for performance. Don't confuse HEALTH over PERFORMANCE. HEALTH is the well being and efficient condition of your cells. PERFORMANCE is the capacity of your cells to perform a specific task. By increasing your performance you degrade your health. By increasing your health you degrade performance. It's the Physic's thermodynamic effect or newton's law for every action there is an equal opposite reaction. For ever anabolic reaction there are catabolic reactions. So stop trying to run like a horse endlessly or benching twice your body weight like a gorilla. Stop trying to optimize to 99.9999%. Nature doesn't even try optimize to 100%, Nature is at 50% equilibrium. Nature's optimal efficiency is at the 80-20 principle. Nature's architect optimal Fibonacci and golden ratios is at around 75%
This was one of your best videos. It's always contextual in who actually is healthy and has great vitality. Ideal programming is what people should focus on. Understand there is give and take with everything you do.
Very true, what are these so called healthy people doing behind closed doors? And are they truly focusing on the heart, brain, spirit and physical? It takes a unworldly lifestyle to accomplish that!
If you Google "fitness influencer dies", there is unfortunately too many that take it to extreme levels. Obviously not all these deaths are related to PEDs etc but... I don't think you'd struggle to find many who look good but are in fact unhealthy, especially if you include mental health.
Wise words! Reminds me of Buddha's Middle Path; let's aim to continue in the right direction, without being extreme!
60 minutes good pace walking a day has improved my heath and along with a keto diet the weight is falling off me at around 3-4 lb a week.
