My teenage son is on the spectrum. Social cues are not his usual thing, so when he piped up and said "he's lying" while not looking up from his switch it startled me. First didn't realize he had been paying attention and so when I asked him to confirm Alex's cross-examination my son said "yeah he's lying, but he is good at it." Second I wondered what made him think that and the kiddo said "he talks too much and notices what words work and bases his answer on that." "So his short answers?" I asked, and the kiddo says "those are easy lies or hard truths."

Motive? In family annihilator theory there is something called "mercy killing," where the perpetrator views his/her actions as "saving" the family members from impending disaster. Paul loved Moselle. Maggie loved Edisto. Both were on the table in the civil lawsuit for the boat crash.

The most concerning thing throughout all of his testimony to me is that he speaks like a lawyer on the case, not like a falsely accused grieving husband. He cites testimony from other people for what should be answers coming from memory and that’s not just on the hard to remember details like time. He’s incredibly strategic with how he answers questions citing other’s testimony instead of his own in a lot of cases. It really does feel like he’s adjusting his story to match the evidence presented thus far, instead of telling the truth.

Alec is a wordsmith and plays semantic’s . I think when he asks for the question to be repeated, he is using that time to construct what he is going to say. He has apologized profusely about lying and stealing money from people that he loves but never gives any specifics or take full accountability.

It’s a nice trick to tell the damning truth about one thing so people think you’re not lying about another thing . My teenager does it all the time

I see someone who remembers the conversations that can benefit him very specifically and then he remembers NOTHING about conversations that may be problematic.

Freudian slip by Alex, "getting ready to do what I didn't want to do"

Oh dear, did anyone else hear the Freudian slip at 1:39:20 "after Maggie asked me to leave", he stumbles and changes it to "Maggie asked me to go with her". There's your motive.

The only reason Alex admitted to being at the kennel minutes before the killing because his voice was on the kennel video. He’s 100% Guilty

My dad died over 10 years ago and I remember exactly what we talked about 8 hour prior to his death. This joker is right where he belongs!
