Description

When Dodge announced that the Charger was going fully electric, reactions were … mixed, to put it lightly. Would the Charger Daytona’s electric powertrain be able to live up to the iconic V8s of Dodge muscle cars past? In this video, Edmunds’ Brian Wong compares the brand-new Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack with the tried-and-true Dodge Challenger Scat Pack to find out which is the better muscle car. 00:00 Intro 01:08 The Numbers 04:42 Challenger Driving Impressions 08:29 Charger Driving Impressions 12:41 Interior 15:25 Edmunds' Take Subscribe to Edmunds https://www.youtube.com/user/edmundsvideo?sub_confirmation=1 for the latest car news, car reviews, car comparisons, car shopping and advice. so basically the old challenger is better, but I guess we already knew that. We’ve been trying to tell Dodge that.

Yeah… that V8 can’t go away… that beautiful V8 is what makes this car shine. It sounds so beautiful.

I think that you are to focused on the cars being TRACK/RACING cars. The majority of cars sold by any manufacturer are NOT tracked so how are the cars on the STREET?

Nice breakdown my guy, but nobody tracking these cars lol! Maybe the drag strip, but track? Nah! These will be daily drivers with the occasional spirited light to light run!

Though the Scat Pack name has carried on, that's where the similarities between the V8-powered Challenger and electric Charger Daytona end. Which one of these muscle cars appeals to you more, old-fashioned combustion or new-school electricity? Let us know in the comments below.

I traded my ‘22 WB Charger Hellcat for the Scat EV. Unequivocally the Scat EV handles better and is a quicker car. With AWD EV’s you have to drive them differently than their ICE variants when on track. You have to drive all out in track mode and let the electronics stabilize the vehicle for all phases. What the reviewer is saying about lack of feedback in the steering wheel when pushing hard is true though. That’s simply because it is fully electronic steering. I felt similarly in the Tacan when pushing, but admittedly the tacan is designed to be a track car first while the Scat EV stays true to Mopar being a drag car GT first. With that said, the Scat EV is an excellent vehicle and the fratzonic chambered exhaust adds an actual real element to the driving experience. At idle it vibrates the car like a V8 and on throttle you have the aural ques that you expect from an ICE car which helps you gauge throttle application while pushing in corners. It provides a vastly different (superior IMO) experience than the Plaid sterility experience. I believe the Scat EV objectively is a great car. Where Dodge went wrong was eliminating the V8’s and claiming this will replace it. Marketing set this car up for a hard time before it was even launched. The EV line of Dodge should have been as a compliment to the V8’s and not a replacement.

Having gotten a super cheap lease on a ‘25 Dodge Daytona Scat Pack, with now over 5000 miles and five months of ownership, I absolutely love this car. It’s comfortable, practical, big, fast, AWD and turns heads everywhere I go. It’s hated online but liked in real life. My other car is a ‘26 992.2 GT3. I highly recommend the Dodge EV as a super leased daily. Yes, when it gets a Hellcat motor, I’ll be buying one.
