I've been driving for 46 years, and you couldn't have said it better. Thanks for sharing

Drive it for you, not for somebody else. Great statement. I spent the last year researching to buy a new car. My RX350 was 10 years old, and I wanted the new tech stuff and luxury still of the RX. I don’t need a large car now being single and 72. And I don’t care about 0-60 in 6 seconds. Handling, reliability, some toys and fuel efficiency were my main targets. I eventually settled on the Lexus UX300h F Sport 2. So I went to my Lexus dealer and test drove the UX. Went for about a 1 hour drive, as they said that was fine to do so. It passed all my concerns with flying colours, so later that day, I drove home in my new UX. I love it! Gas prices in North Vancouver are more often than not the most expensive in North America, so my gas bill seems hilariously low in the UX compared to my old RX.

100% in agreement with everything you said, especially the "live within your means" advice.

I bought a new Lamborghini Huracan in 2016. I've been really good about yearly maintenance and the car drives like a dream. However, the yearly service is expensive; anywhere from 2500 to 5700 a year just for general maintenance, oil changes, etc. I knew that going in though. As long as you know what you're getting into, it's totally worth it. Same with my new AMG Mercedes. I like to drive fast cars and willing to pay the price.

Great comments. Once they stated stuffing computers and sensors, the game is done.

Absolutely true, cars are not cheap anymore, too much technology, after COVID 19 pandemic prices skyrocketed, I bought my ‘17 Altima 2.5S in January 2020 still under warranty for$15K; I give it its maintenance because I don’t want to buy another car anytime soon. I’ve always stayed away from European cars, too expensive when it comes to maintenance not to mention their quality it’s not what it used to be 40 years ago.
