So much of what Greg talks about makes me think of what I have always referred to as the abstract ‘principle of negative spaces.’ It’s like the illusion trick where a picture looks like a white vase until you focus on the negative black spaces around the edge and realize it is also two faces looking at each other. In this case I would say the noise is the obvious vase that demands your attention (I.e. social media, news) while the signal is found through a subtle perception shift of ignoring the vase to see the faces in the shadow.

I love the coal mine vs diamond mine analogy. In general i love your podcast and after 40 years of trying to avoid anyone and anything that "found it", I am starting to find the use in learning from others. So thank you for doing it in an unpretentious way.

I keep a second old phone for social media apps. I switch it off and throw it in the cupboard once a week and through school holidays. Other days I time block and switch off and store. Tools are meant to be packed away. Much easier to compartmentalise SM when it’s not on the phone I use for staying in touch with those closer to me.
