Description

My guest is Dr. Chris Palmer, M.D., a board-certified psychiatrist and professor at Harvard Medical School. He explains how specific nutrition, exercise, supplement-based, and other factors can improve mitochondrial health and thereby provide relief from adult and childhood ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and symptoms of autism. We discuss mitochondrial biology, whether vaccines can impact inflammation and mitochondrial health, and the potential ramifications. We also review creatine, methylene blue, and urolithin A, as well as the role of B vitamins and iron in treating depression. By the end of this episode, you will understand the powerful link between metabolic health and mental health, and the lifestyle, dietary, and other factors you can leverage to help overcome common mental health challenges and disorders. Dr. Palmer is a hero. He doesn't take credit, and that's fine, but it's a pretty brave thing he's doing, career-wise. He's rocking the boat.

You had me at our field of psychology is OFF TRACK and needs to be more integrated and unified. As someone working in schools, the focus on ACES/counseling and neurotransmitter medications as solutions have yielded practically no positive change. Five years of grad school and 25 years of work later, I am reeling over the lack of overall positive change & now have a sense of hopelessness about our field. Thanks for giving me encouragement that things may get better in offering solutions for the struggling kids I see every day.

Chris Palmer is on fire here. Medical grade ketogenic diets for mental health are the most promising treatment we've ever seen. Better than meds. Lets go!

4 years ago I had a mental health breakdown. It scared the Sh♡t out of me. I never knew that I could be so vulnerable. At one point I didn't leave my bed for months, my muscles wasted. 4 years on, I've removed bad habits and behaviours gradually, my diet has transformed to a mediterranean food based plan. I walk every day 5 to 8 km. I feel mentally strong again. I am grateful and aware how fragile our mind is. Take care of it.

Great to see Dr. Palmer getting so much coverage of late- he is riding a wave of well-deserved recognition.

I love how this episode got into morality of what’s been done to us by medical organizations.
