This guy is confirming so much of what i experienced. I lost 62 lbs quick (4 months) after fasting a lot at first. Then i switched to low carb, but i could tell my body was a whole different machine. I tell people all the time, once i get about 85% of my effort on a bike, im can keep that for FAR longer than i ever thought i could. Its because its burning that fat for fuel. Fat for fuel is far superior, i dont care who you are. Its like the diesel of the body fuel world. Not only that, but when your body is accustom to burning fat, you get this insane energy that is steady.
I treat people with mitochondrial and genetic disease, some cannot go ketogenic and I suspect as we learn more about genetics we will discover that ketogenic diets might be a magic bullet for some but likely not all. Similar differences in how we acetylate medicines in various individual ways
On day 4 no sugar! God Bless you for changing lives brother!🙏
We say this, yet written in history while at war during one of their campaigns, the Spartans had nothing but meat to eat for several weeks, and they were longing to eat some pearled barley and vegetables. Should note the Spartans had a strict diet and refused to eat luxury foods such as figs, honey cakes, and wine and in such a case when a Persian emissary offered a banquette of such foods, the Spartan King Agesilaus took only the pearled barley and refused the rest, when pressed to take the rest of the food he told them to give it to their Helots. On a side note, Agesilaus lived to his 80s, and his good friend and General of the 10,000 'Xenophon' also lived to his 80s.
Dr. Noakes, so much respect!
Carbs or no carbs is a pointless argument that will never be definitively settled. We need energy from food and our bodies simply don’t care. What it doesn’t need is ultra processed , sugar dense garbage. Avoid that stuff and eat whatever else you want. You will be in the top 5% of humans from a general dietary health standpoint. I eat low carb high protein because it helps me in avoiding the crap foods and assists with my muscle gain goals, but I am under no illusion that any differences that you would constitute as “better” are ever going to apply to someone like me who is not a top level 1% athlete
Wow love Tim Noakes always fascinating angles!!
