Probably the best speech a best man gave at a wedding ever
Sherlock's speech is so unbelievable good - it's like watching a terrible train crash that suddenly turnes into the most moving speech ever and Sherlock having not the slightest clue why people are suddenly crying is a cherry on the top.
The irony of getting a lil tipsy for THIS episode 😂 You sure you didn't plan this?
This episode is one of the best because it spends most of the time with great interactions between Sherlock, John & Mary, instead of running the viewer around at frantic pace to solve a mystery that only Sherlock can understand. We see his more vulnerable side that makes him human and relatable. Lots of funny moments with smart dialog.
This is what I have been waiting for. The best man speech is my favorite moment in this entire show. Don't get me wrong, there is still more greatness ahead, but that moment of true sincerity and appreciation from Sherlock is so beautiful.
I live for the moment when Sherlock says during his best man speech „Vatican cameos“ and John‘s body posture changes immediately Idk why but it gives me deep satisfaction every bloody time
After season 3 (2014) thay did a one off "New Years day special" "S4 E0 The Abominable Bride"(2016) they went full historic setting for one story that worked so well. Then it was a full year until we got Season 4(2017)
Props to writers Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss (who also plays Mycroft) and Stephan Thompsen for keeping things fresh and introducing the human element (as well as some clues to future developments). Great episode, one of my favorites, and great reaction
I love this version of Mary, she fits in so well with their dynamic.
Mark Gatiss (who plays Mycroft and is the co-showrunner, co head writer of this show) admitted to fans who figured it out that the ending of this episode was also a small nod to a famous Doctor Who episode ending in the 1970s when the Third Doctor quietly slipped away from an engagement party, knowing that his then-current companion Jo would be entering a new life when she got married, one without him. There are a couple of other Doctor Who nods that Gatiss and Moffat sneak into this show.
