Refuting Carbohydrate Requirements After Menopause on a Carnivore Diet

Understand why postmenopausal women do not inherently need carbohydrates for health or metabolism, challenging widely held nutritional beliefs with physiological and anthropological data.

Short Summary

  • Nutritional requirements remain species-specific across all life stages (pre/post-menopause); carbohydrates are not an essential nutrient.
  • Ingesting carbohydrates may negatively influence female hormones by elevating insulin and potentially hastening menopause onset.
  • Long-term ketogenic diets are supported by data showing stable hormones, increased metabolism, and high performance in postmenopausal individuals.

This discussion systematically dismantles the myth that specific carbohydrate needs emerge after menopause. Learn why staying metabolically flexible supports hormonal balance and longevity based on human biology and clinical observation.

As a 63 year old woman, thank you for not making me feel irrelevant! My longtime, primary doctor retired 2 years ago, and I have a new very young doctor, who doesn’t know crap about older patients. When I see him, twice a year, he barely listens or acknowledges me. I’m sure he thinks I’ll be dead soon! But being carnivore for almost a year now, I’m feeling better than I ever have. Little does he know, I may just outlive his dumb ass!

65 year old, menopausal woman who has been carnivore for 6 years. No weight gain or problems unless I try to add back carbs or dairy. Also none of the symptoms of menopause. I feel great! Thanks Doctor Chaffee for being here for us.

My mother is 86. I’ve been giving her tons of meat and eggs. She’s cooking with butter now and her body is quickly coming back and she looks younger and has more energy. It is incredible how fast she got back on track and doing great. She still eat some carbs but only a bit of rice and beans. All thanks to you Dr. Chaffee. Can’t thank you enough. Keep it up. 🫶🏻

I just turned 70. Way past menopause. I feel normal. I eat ketovore. No hormonal issues. Our grandmother's never went through these so-called pre and post menopausal issues. It's the crappy foods, seed oils, sugars!

They are determined to convince people that they need carbs for one reason or another so you get sick and need their drugs. All my menopausal symptoms went away shortly after eating a carnivore diet😊
