I work on ice machines. The water in the system almost always comes in contact with plastic during the process.

I'd highly recommend you to interview someone that really knows about polymers, that knows about life cycle assessment and the challenges of replacing fossil-based polymers with bio-based ones. It's straight up impossible to replace plastic bottles with glass ones, and still think the price of things to remain the same. Same goes for replacing polyesters with cotton in fabrics, replacing plastic bags with cotton ones. Unless you're rich and can afford it, then go ahead and do it. Most of the planet, unfortunately, doesn't have that choice. In an utopian world, plastics like PVC should be outright banned but, you just can't. Because it's part of the process of making caustic soda. Believe it or not, storing chlorine inside a polymeric structure like PVC is way safer than storing chlorine gas inside containers. Sorry for the long rant

Not just HOT liquids in plastics but FREEZING liquids in plastic bottles breakdown and leach just as much microplastics 😮 - use glass and ceramic coated bottles (I don’t trust metal ones, as it’s grade is too varied and I want to avoid any heavy metal and rust ingestion!

I have a coffee shop and the hot water and plastic was a thought I had. I make the drink in the metal container and cool it down with ice before putting it in the plastic cup.
