Repercussions of Lifetime Sexual Activity on Relationship Longevity
Discover empirical data linking higher past sexual activity (body count) to reduced long-term relationship satisfaction and success rates. Understand why context matters when interpreting this statistical trend.
Short Summary
- Individuals with higher body counts statistically show lower success rates in monogamous relationships, evidenced by higher divorce and infidelity rates.
- Infidelity rates were shown to be double for those with a body count above five compared to those below five, regardless of gender.
- The context of sexual partners (casual encounters versus committed relationships) significantly modifies the predictive value of the total body count number.
This discussion explores statistical findings regarding sexual history and relational outcomes, providing the necessary nuance before drawing firm conclusions for individual behavioral choices.

I can attest to this. I'm 38 years old man. Fell deeply in love and dated a girl from 15-20. She was "The One". Thought we'd get married, kids etc. I was lazy and arrogant and she left me, rightly so. I went on a coping/revenge spree of casual sex for 15+ years. I was trying to deal with the rejection, bitter and also highly disillusioned. My bodycount is somewhere in the 200's and I can confirm when I'm with a woman I feel nothing emotionally. Basically dead inside. I thought it was just because I hadn't found the right person for me but I've been with women who were beautiful, kind and caring and still felt nothing. I now try to practice abstinence but still fall back into lust from time to time, usually when I'm run down and spiritually weak. I still hold onto hope that I can meet someone who stirs a genuine connection in me but I have my doubts and also feel somewhat unworthy because of my past. To any young men or women reading this. Use your time to work on yourself mentally, physically and spiritually. Practice discipline and discernment. Good things come to those who wait. God bless
It's just asking the question: "Does past behavior predict future behavior?" and the obvious answer is almost always.
Definitely destroys your mind. Short term pleasure that causes major emotional and mental struggles in long term relationships.
As a married dude, if you want to be married one day, don’t live the streets life. The thirst for constant novelty that it develops isn’t something that will make you a better husband.
My wife and I were virgins when we got married. Both at 19 and dated for 4 years. When we started the wedding night process, we didn't know much. When it was over we had it figured out😎
I went from having no sex until about 25 to sleeping with 50-plus girls in a single year. I ended up catching herpes, and now l've qot permanent scars on my ass from aggressive flare-ups that never healed. So now I'm stuck living with herpes for the rest of my life due to the dumb decisions of my younger impulsive self.
I was a virgin at the altar. My husband is the only man I've ever even kissed. We've been together almost 11 years now with soon to be 5 kids. I literally cannot imagine being with anyone else. My husband was a virgin too, we were able to figure it out on our wedding night 😂 you really don't need practice. My husband is everything to me, my best friend, marrying him was the best choice I could make

As a guy, I've always was made fun of for not trying to hook up with women when I was younger, I craved a meaningful relationship. I knew I was on the right path and I'm glad that its not really an issue anymore.
