Watching the extended versions is an additional 2 hours and without any bathroom breaks or pauses in between scenes, it takes almost half a day to watch all three films. Trust me I know lol

According to Sean Astin in the Extended DVD commentary, when Bilbo drops the Ring before leaving Hobbiton, the floor was magnetic to prevent the Ring from bouncing. This was done to demonstrate the importance and weight of the Ring

Fellowship has the biggest lore drop of all the extended scenes. It's a really big deal that Galadriel gifted Gimli 3 strands of hair.

I still grin a little when Boromir says, "My father is a noble man." Denethor was played by John Noble.
