Description

Dr. David Eagleman, PhD, is a neuroscientist, bestselling author and professor at Stanford University. We discuss how to leverage the science of neuroplasticity to learn new skills and information and how accurate and false memories form and are forgotten. We also discuss time perception and why it speeds up or slows down depending on our age and stress level. We cover dreaming and the meaning of visual and other dream content. And we discuss the neuroscience of cultural and political polarization and how to remedy it. This episode provides science-based knowledge and practical tools you can use to enhance learning and better understand your experience of life in the past, present and future. My mother had a quote taped above her desk that said, “Unless you continue to do things beyond your knowledge, you will never grow”. She was the most amazing woman I’ve ever known and I was blessed to have her for the time I did.

Dr. Eaglemann personifies the perpetually curious, intrigued scientist who is truly excited by discovery of a new paradigm, a delightful example of what it means to be a geek: there is a topic so interesting that the geek wants to know everything about a topic.

I love how animated your guest is. Finally a Doctor with some excitement about what he does. I love when any doctor/scientist provides us any information on your channel but to have someone this happy about it. It brings out the excitement in me about these topics. I never comment, but had to about his joy for life and for what he does. God Bless Him.

I’m a Vietnam combat veteran, and on several occasions I’ve had my “life flash before my eyes.” This is a real phenomenon, not just something from Hollywood. I think I know what it is: it is your brain reviewing your past experiences to find a solution to the mess you’re in. It happens - and it doesn’t happen. There are psychological states in combat that have never been investigated.

This could not be better timed. I’m literally putting together a private curriculum to reteach myself how to study and RETAIN the info. I’m a former Gifted kid and 10+ years out of higher education hasn’t done me any favours in the retention department. Putting this on now, thanks a ton!
