I've been a low-carb guy for many years now; what I've noticed is that if I cheat for 1 or 2 days I have no problem in going back to low-carb intake, but if I cheat for 3 days in a row then I start craving carbs and take 2-3 days to go back to my usual "stability"
3 years carnivore, never going back. Feel amazing, great skin and strength. 61 year old female.
A few days? When I stopped carbs it took 2 months to get rid of my low-grade headache and chronic itching. But I knew I had to just ride it out. And I'm glad I did. At 64 years old, I feel great.
64 Years old. Mrs - 56. We didn't dive, but we walked briskly into keto, stretching the mild cold turkey out to a couple of weeks. It worked for us. This was just over a year ago. The Mrs has since lost 50 Kilos and I myself around 30. I went from a size XL to an M. The strange thing is that it wasn't as difficult as it seems. We started off with protein breads and Coconut flour pasta and Carb-Ersatzfoods etc. We ditched those pretty quickly and just eat whole foods now, mainly ruminant meat with a small side dish of veg or salad, some berries and Greek yogurt. Sometimes chicken, pork, fish. The occasional sweet potato is on the menu, as is the rare Basmati rice with curry. I must mention, we didn't have any medical issues. Just well overweight, with the resulting factors that go with that. RΓ©sumΓ©: It was the best thing we've ever done. It's easier than you think.
I have been carnivore for 2.5 years and have put diabetes into remission and all meds gone.
Fiber is not required on a carnivore diet. If you can't poop you either don't need to, or you should eat more fat.
So important. So many women I work with jump to cutting carbs and feel worse β tired, moody, bloated β especially in perimenopause or beyond. Itβs rarely just about the carbs. Gut health, cortisol, and how your metabolism is functioning now matter so much more. Once we reset those, the body finally responds again.
Best advice anyone gave me. Eat something and see how your body feels after.
