Optimizing Energy Delivery: Diet, Addiction, and Ketosis for Cellular Health

Master the four core energy systems—fuel, oxygen, engine, and gearbox—to resolve chronic illness by prioritizing fat metabolism and breaking free from sugar addiction.

Short Summary

  • Prioritize Fuel: Always address diet and gut function first, as this underpins all other energy mechanisms.
  • End Sugar Addiction: Recognize that carbohydrate/sugar dependency is the primary hurdle blocking true recovery for most Westerners.
  • Embrace Fat Metabolism: The mitochondria prefer fat (ketones) as fuel because burning sugars creates damaging free radicals (exhaust fumes).
  • Detox Load Matters: Sick patients require the least toxic diet possible, often starting with a Carnivore approach to reduce plant toxins.

This discussion centers on Dr. Sarah Myhill's "car analogy" for cellular energy. The goal is to shift the body's primary fuel source from damaging carbohydrates to efficient, protective fats (ketones). Understanding sugar as an addiction modeled on alcohol and nicotine provides the framework for permanently changing dietary habits toward a Paleo Ketogenic approach.

There is a modern eating disorder which sees food as pleasure. For thousands of years food was fuel and feasting was reserved for special occasions.

You are the best interviewer I have ever seen, because you don't attach emotion into your questioning. Wishing the best for you.

The closer I stick to bacon beef butter and eggs, the better I feel. I can “cheat” with minimal full fat dairy and some roasted and salted nuts and even the occasional bite of cooked onion or spices in my meat without joint pain and weight gain but anything more than the occasional keto cheat, causes joint pain within hours and weight gain. Still working on fixing decades of Hashimoto’s damage.

I got myself into keto so fast yesterday. I had an accidental 30 hour fast, and I shot straight into ketosis. Usually it takes me a couple of days 💪
