I was about to buy a package of "zero sugar" beef jerky last night, and checked the ingredients. Sure enough: "maltodextrin" was listed - I would never have known without you mentioning maltodextrin on an earlier video.
Funny in 5 years of keto everywhere you hear Maltodextrin affects your blood sugar worse than sugar. So one person says it’s not so bad. I still don’t like how LMNT says they have clean ingredients. So that is a stone cold lie.
With the help of Thomas and others in this space I, a woman in her 60’s, has managed to lose over 100 pounds! I am forever grateful. 💜🌸💜
Good reasons for not eating products that need labels.
So, the takeaway for. LMNT is that the maltodextrin level shouldve been listed with an asterisk "*insignificant to blood sugar" , and the" Keto" labeled ultra processed food should be avoided , esp for individuals highly sensitive /allergic to corn.
The problem with the LMNT issue was more about the deception than the actual maldextrin. No one wants chemicals that are controversial in their food without disclosure, or even under the guise of promoting a health food or supplement. It’s about trust and the public has HAD IT. MAHA
Regardless if the amount is insignificant, need to vote with your dollar! These corporations will push the limits eventually! I will not be buying lint because of their lies!
I think the LMNT example was exacerbated by their own marketing: “no dodgy ingredients”. True? Especially if the amount of maltodextrin had been misrepresented or hidden in the ability to mask in food labeling standards. I have used LMNT in the past and may use it in the future, but good to know fully what it is.
As a T1D (type one diabetic), Quest bars completely throw my glucose levels off even trying to infuse my insulin over a 1-2 hr period. I won't touch them after trying several times. It's all due to these vague ingredients. Excellent video!
The only LMNT product I use if I am fasting is the RAW type. I was disappointed when I learned that the other flavors had maltodextrine and didn't list them on the package. It isn't that I don't think that my body can't handle it, my issue is more the lack of transparency.
