My doctor didn't say anything when I was 232 lbs and over 30% body fat with an ldl of 135, triglycerides of 350, and HDL of 38 but now that I'm 183lbs and around 16% bf with an ldl of 225, triglyceride of 76, and HDL of 67 she is very concerned for my health. She definitely left irritated when I brought up many studies showing ldl was a terrible independent risk factor for heart disease and that my vldl level of less than 8 painted a much better picture along with tri/HDL ratio of barely over 1 in the absence of glucose and with a low fasting insulin level. Resting heart rate while sleeping has also gone from 65 to 45, no more insulin resistance, no more CPAP, no more trt, no more blood pressure medications, no more joint pain, and feeling the best I've ever felt but yet suddenly things are terrible in her eyes.

I am so pleased to see this video! I have cardiovascular disease, have had 5 heart attacks, and not a single Doctor/Cardiologist recommended the Keto Diet. I discovered it on my own about 5 years ago. My 2 cardiologist poo poo the diet, prescribing statins to lower my LDL levels. I finally took the bull by the horns, and stopped taking statins, fully embracing Keto and have never felt better! My A1C ranges between 4.7 and 5.6. Yes, high, but still in the safe "normal" range. I swear by Keto and Carnivore as the best human diets!

🎯 Key points for quick navigation: 00:05 *🩺 Glucose is the main driver of cardiovascular disease risk, especially in patients with metabolic conditions like diabetes.* 00:44 *🧪 Ketogenic diets can powerfully impact metabolic diseases, even independently of calorie restriction.* 01:53 *📊 This was a verified 10-year medical case study, tracking a type 1 diabetic patient on a ketogenic diet with advanced cardiovascular testing.* 02:35 *🧈 The patient had elevated LDL and saturated fat intake, raising concerns given traditional cardiovascular guidelines.* 03:29 *🧬 No prior long-term data existed on keto and cardiovascular outcomes beyond 2 years, making this case unique.* 07:04 *🧃 A 30-year NIH study proved better glucose control reduces cardiovascular risk, even when insulin doses are high.* 08:35 *🩸 Hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c) is the top risk factor for cardiovascular disease in type 1 diabetes—far above LDL.* 10:27 *👶 A ketogenic diet helped type 1 diabetic patients (including children) reach near-normal HbA1c levels, averaging 5.67%.* 11:20 *⏳ Typical type 1 diabetics have extreme glucose variability, leading to significant reductions in life expectancy.* 12:26 *💓 Advanced vascular testing revealed no early signs of atherosclerosis, despite high LDL, in the patient on a 10-year ketogenic diet.* 13:50 *🚰 Stiffened blood vessels from chronic high pressure and glucose variability accelerate vascular damage early in life.* 15:00 *🧭 Researchers used early hemodynamic markers, not just calcium scores, to detect vascular dysfunction long before plaques form.* 17:15 *🎯 The patient maintained an HbA1c of 5.5% for 10 years, which is achieved by less than 1% of type 1 diabetics.* 17:55 *🫀 Cardiovascular health metrics were better than both other type 1 diabetics and even some non-diabetics, despite elevated LDL.* 18:52 *🧱 Final calcium score was zero, the gold standard for assessing plaque buildup, showing no advanced disease signs.* 20:16 *🌉 This is the first long-term report showing keto may normalize key risk factors in a high-risk population with advanced cardiovascular risk.* 20:58 *🔬 The study showed better vascular function and physiology, even compared to healthy controls.* 21:26 *🌡️ Chronic inflammation (via NLRP3 inflammasome and oxidative stress) is a known mechanism in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.* 22:07 *🧠 Better glucose control—even with higher insulin and weight gain—reduced cardiovascular and microvascular risks in a 30-year RCT.* 22:35 *🧠 High and variable glucose levels can damage tissues and impair brain structure, even in children with type 1 diabetes.* 23:29 *🧬 Small improvements in HbA1c lead to measurable brain structure benefits, reinforcing the centrality of glucose control.* 23:57 *🫀 Despite elevated LDL, the patient on a 10-year keto diet showed no signs of cardiovascular disease, only signs of exceptional cardiovascular health.* 24:25 *🧮 A holistic view of health is essential, not just evaluating one biomarker like LDL in isolation.* 24:50 *🦴 Kidney, liver, bone, and thyroid health remained intact after 10 years on a ketogenic diet, countering common concerns.* 25:06 *📉 There’s a critical lack of long-term ketogenic diet studies, but emerging data supports its safety and efficacy.* 25:32 *🧈 Saturated fat does increase LDL, especially due to effects on liver LDL receptor function.* 26:15 *⚠️ Combining high saturated fat with high glucose is likely dangerous, but elevated LDL may be less concerning with stable glucose.* 27:11 *🚫 Focusing solely on LDL while ignoring glucose control is misinformed, especially in managing diabetes.* 27:53 *💡 HbA1c is the top cardiovascular risk factor in type 1 diabetes, followed by blood pressure and triglycerides—not LDL.* 28:21 *🔄 Triglycerides are underestimated as cardiovascular risk markers, but lowering them hasn’t shown consistent causal impact.* 29:02 *🧠 Patients must prioritize key risk factors, like glucose control, instead of being distracted by secondary markers.* 29:57 *⚖️ All health choices involve trade-offs, so patients must weigh benefits and risks based on their top health priorities.* 31:06 *🧾 Institutional inertia and outdated education delay adoption of new evidence, leaving many physicians misinformed.* 31:47 *💬 How patients feel on a diet is clinically relevant, especially for mental and physical health in diabetes.* 32:15 *🧠 Mental health disorders are 5–10x more common after type 1 diabetes diagnosis, linked to glucose variability.* 33:05 *🏃 Even glucose levels considered “in range” impair athletic performance, especially in type 1 diabetics.* 34:02 *🧭 Patients need clear guidance for options like ketogenic diets, even if large-scale trials are lacking.* 35:09 *🧾 Doctors and experts collaborated to create guidelines for safe therapeutic carb restriction in type 1 diabetes.* 37:13 *📚 Many dietitians feel unprepared or unsupported to offer therapeutic carb reduction, despite its potential.* 38:08 *🩺 Most healthcare professionals want to help, but they need better institutional tools and updated evidence-based resources.* Made with HARPA AI

Another awesome video! It's crazy how long the medical establishment has been feeding us misinformation about healthy eating, and now we’re seeing more obesity, diabetes (even in kids!), and heart disease than ever before. The whole demonization of fat, eggs, and cholesterol is seriously outdated. I just finished reading *Cholesterol: Friend or Foe?* by M.D. Harper, and it really opened my eyes – highly recommend it! I’ve cut out carbs, and I’m feeling amazing at 53. Subscribed!

I'm about 7 years into a Ketovore diet. Have lost a LOT of weight, lost the skin tags around my eyes, lost the acid reflux that I had daily, and feel so much better.

The big problem is we desire the food we were raised on and sugar addiction. Sugar addiction sounds weird but it is as real as drug or alcohol addiction.

I contracted for the Harvard School of Public Health on automating dietary data collection for an arm of The Nurses' Health Study. The group under Dr. Walter Willett was responsible for constructing the famous "Food Pyramid." They were completely corrupted by industry grant money; were both ignorant and incompetent, often unbelievably so; and they viciously and personally attacked any data or researcher that disproved their Diabetes Dispenser model. They've probably done more to spread dietary-based inflammatory diseases than any other single source on earth. So happy to see the real data starting to win, at least for people who want to heal themselves. Keep it up, Matt!

A friend’s son has cystic fibrosis. Until he went keto, he was regularly admitted to hospital. Now, being keto for about a decade, he has not seen the inside of a hospital in all that time!
