1) Calming 2) Free Therapy 3) Can vary heart rate zones 4) Moving full body through space is always preferred to stationary/isolation actions 5) It’s passive (run anytime, run with a friend, just need a few minutes, no time constraints/scheduling) 6) Satisfies ADHD (need for changing scenery and mental stimulation that walking can’t provide) 7) Allows one to EAT MORE as more calories are burned than many other movement options 8) No equipment needed, only space to run through 9) Survival tool (traversing the world may not always be as simple as calling for an Uber…) 10) Builds a base (can do anything requiring a physical base like sports, helping a friend move, remaining independent in old age, etc.) 11) Helps build muscle, provided protein and other macro/micro-nutrient needs are met (aids recovery, oxygen delivery, stimulates a different kind of protein synthesis, etc.) 12) Endogenous antioxidant production (trains body to produce more, provided overtraining does not occur and lessen mitochondrial health over time) 13) Sleep improvement (Heart Rate Variability and other factors linked to running that help with sleep quality) 14) An excuse to travel 15) Sunlight exposure (Vitamin D synthesis and other benefits) 16) Meet like-minded people who enjoy running and the benefits it brings them 17) Burns a lot of calories (similar to reason #7, not many other activities burn as many calories per volume/time as running) 18) Good for the brain, many emotional and mental health benefits linked to running (brain “plasticity”, etc.) 19) Because it’s HARD (get comfortable being uncomfortable, teach the body to adapt)

Walking is that way for me. The running your body through space. It’s real. Heals my brain.

I run, I weight lift, but I mostly LOVE skipping! ☺ Yeah... it puts me in such a childlike joy state. It's super good on the lymph system which basically detoxes you faster. 15-20 mins non-stop skipping gives a great heart rate amp up. I totally agree, more aerobic creates better sleep. Weight lifting in major, actually gives me insomnia often, makes me grind my teeth at night; usually waking up then with a slight headache. 💥💪😀

I'm 68 and my knees have seen better days, so I walk instead of running and totally agree with what Thomas said.

Tom you’re a legend mate, 10-13 hit the nail on the head !!! These are the main benefits I notice from running my number 1 thing why I love running is as simple as this. RUNNING IS THE MOST HUMAN THING WE COULD EVER DO!!!!! we are blessed with a body and I wasted so many years doing what my circle told me to do, study, work, eat till your full, eat and relax. Running is for kids, be an adult. Running is the most fundamental Human things we could ever do. Humans have been migrating running moving since our very genesis and it makes me feel connected to SOMETHING. I don’t know what but when I run I feel connected and very “proud” to be alive.
