First, let me preface my statement by letting you know I'm old. When I was growing up in the 50s, we got breakfast at about 8:00 am, had lunch around noon, and had dinner at 6:00 pm. So I guess we were on a 10:14 intermittent fasting regimen. If I begged for food after school, my mother said, "No. It will spoil your appetite." On weekends and special occasions, we would celebrate with a bowl of ice cream or some confection after dinner. Period. This was NOT child abuse, believe it or not, that was normal family life during the 50s and 60s. That was when, may I remind you, the national obesity rate was less than 10%. It was NORMAL to have three square meals. Snacking was rare. 'Energy bars' were unheard of. I would guess that about 80% of the packaged foods that dominate supermarket shelves nowadays hadn't been invented. Now, everybody is freaking out about normal eating and giving it a new name, "intermittent fasting." Honestly; it just looks a lot like my childhood. Love your content, Thomas. Keep up the good work!
Hey thomas! Wanted to share with you. I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic a few months ago. Being only 32 At 6'0 170 pounds i was at a lose for words. Your channel was one of the first i found and you gave me so much hope. A few months later I've been able to get off the metformin from being able to control it from my diet; most of which i've learned from you. Thank you so much for all the work you do!
18:6 for 2 years now, reached & maintain my target weight (12% bf), exercising every day (fasted) feel great, performance has only gone up (196 push-ups, 30 mile bike rides, 20 min 5000m rowing sessions), love the time management, mental clarity and mood stability. At 56, I’m in the best health/shape of my life, no comparison. Couldn’t imagine going back now.
I found it best not to tell others. They can't give their negativity or learnt response if they don't know you are fasting. No stress just happiness on my behalf
I don't think I'll quit it because it's what I've been doing for 15 years without even knowing that's what it was. For most days of the week I don't eat after 7pm, never eat breakfast, and then eat lunch from about 1pm. In total, 18 hours off, and 6 hours eating window. Has worked for me energy-wise.
I've been sticking with intermittent fasting for the last 2 months and plan on sticking with it. Caloric surplus is an easy thing to fall into when there's no time constraint in place, and that alone is motivation to keep at it.
My side effect from intermittent fasting was that my life long hypoglycemia issues went away. 😊😊😊😊😊😊

You don’t have to do it everyday. Nothing is absolute. That’s what makes it a lifestyle.
I’ve never even strived for the everyday thing. I go with the “Whenever the urge hits me” mentality, to basically use it as a health weapon, with no strict scheduling. And by doing it that way I’m way more likely to extend to 18-22 hours.
