Description

In this Huberman Lab Essentials episode, I discuss interoception, the brain’s ability to sense and interpret signals from the body, which shapes our sense of self and underlies vital functions like focus, sleep, healing and emotions. I explain how the body communicates different types of information to the brain, influencing processes like digestion, heart rate and immune function. I also describe practical tools such as breathwork to regulate alertness, strategies to support gut health and reduce sugar cravings, and awareness practices to enhance interoception. By understanding and applying these tools, you can strengthen the brain-body connection to improve mood, overall health and performance. This discussion has FAR REACHING information. On the surface it seems like a description of body mechanics, but to me, it gives a visual understanding and helps de-mystify un-seen experiences and simplify some confusions. Thank you Mr Huberman!

After 40 years as a nurse practitioner and exercise physiologist, never underestimate the power of your mind, and the mind body connection. If you don’t know how to start doing this, implementing this video into your life is a great place to start.

I have been following Andrew for some years now. I appreciate he had to talk to the masses. I can’t touch fermented food, I’d gluten or dairy or sugar. Nor turmeric or tapioca. To name a few. I look forward to clearing up this mold toxicity to regain my gut barrier and brain barrier.

On another note..when a hornet attacks a Honey Bee hive..the bees will pile on top of the hornet and basically bake him to death by way of the vibration of their wings

Yes Andrew! Thank you. The Vagus is all about communication. A heart attack that did not kill me introduced me to my heart beat and vagus nerve in a way that been impossible to forget. Heart chest, belly, throat, full ear- smiles. There is so much hype about the vagus nerve and most of it’s missing the point. This is a communication channel that can be consciously accessed through thought at any time. With practice the channel can stay open. It not only affects emotions but can physically move your body with seemingly no input from the brain. It’s hilarious the first few times you witness it. This is an “ interesting” topic for now but interoception is far bigger than most understand at this point. As more people have direct experience with interoception this topic will become a whole lot more than interesting. :-). Please keep doing what you do. Some others might have the knowledge but nobody delivers better. You rock Huberman.

I love how often you use the word "beautiful" to describe the workings of our bodies.
