Fifth story: This reminds me of another story when OP faced his HOA because by a "nature friendly" new bylaw he needed to "fix" his in tune with nature lawn, a wildlife preservator said his lawn was more than nature friendly and even found two endangered species of birds nesting there which immediately turned his lawn into a natural reserve.
Like I've said before, Pro Revenge/Malicious Compliance stories involving a new boss are the workplace equivalent of the Fire Nation attacking.
Story 1: people don't quit jobs, they quit bosses.
Story 5: There is nothing worse than someone who has too much time on their hands and wants to mess with other people. BUT, looks like that ended up being a blessing in disguise as OP's yard is now a habitat. Yay
Wildlife garden story: I visited a shopping centre I’ve never been to before here in the UK this morning (the Fort Shopping Centre in Birmingham), and I was delighted to see that they had several native wildflower areas in between the stores, skirting the car park, with wooden insect habitats. It was a very welcome sight, far better than the usual artificial looking flowerbeds containing species not useful for the wildlife in the area. We should all endeavour to leave some wild spots wherever we can.
Finally, his wife paid the ransom, and we can have good audio and on time videos. ❤❤
Well, there are some stories I hadn’t heard. Like that last story…so glad the OP got something IN WRITING. The fact that it was a fraud claim makes the MC even sweeter. 🤣🤣
vacation story: I had a oss do this within my HR job. my boss approved my 2 week vacation, then left for a promotion about a month later. My vacation approval, still locked in. This was in November, and my trip was in June. In late february, I have my "new" boss tell me that my vacation was going to be un-approved because "I cant take that many vacation days" (I didnt know much of HR Law, I just worked there) but she put in vacation 2 weeks before a study abroad trip for her class and told me I cannot leave any day during her leave because "someone has tp manage tthe front desk." During this time I was interviewing for another position at my work and after talking to the manager hiring, they said theyll push my job offer/my resignation that that (this was Tuesday). Wednesday I have a "sudden" evaluation where they tried to ding me for not doing my job and I refused to sign. Thursday I have the VP of my area try and convince me to stay and I told him match my pay and I want to report to him directly (like how it was before with my old boss). No can do. So friday comes and they spend pretty much all day negotiating my pay which I refused because they couldnt match. I walked out that friday without even saying bye. Heard later that my "boss" had to cancel her study abroad trip and then scrambled to find coverage because now she couldnt get her degree in the spring for her new role and her "promotion" was tied to it. I went on that vacation and enjoyed every bit. sent pictures to our unit manager, who delightfully woudl tell that girls supervisor.
Sorry, for me to cancel my room, that I booked correctly, I require a 60 day notice or you will have to pay a $500€ penalty
Last story: Too many people in management seem to put too much focus on the metrics used for their bonus and forget that the metric is just a way to tell whether or not they're doing a good job. Bumping up the metric by not doing your actual job is not a winning strategy.
