If you were to watch one more silent film on the channel, I highly recommend that it be Fritz Lang’s Metropolis (1927).
"So they're literally not going to talk" is the most Cassie thing Cassie has ever said. 🤣
"The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" from around this time is pretty amazing.
When silent films were played in theaters, an organist would play accompanying music.
You may find it interesting after watching this to see Shadow of the Vampire (2000) with John Malkovich and Willam Dafoe, a fictionalized but entertaining story about the making of Nosferatu.
Cassie goes full cinephile mode
The "sepia" tone indicates daytime scenes. The "purple" tone indicates nighttime scenes. This was because at the time, it was impossible to shoot at night and without natural light.
The fact that she's sitting here in 2025, completely fixated on what's happening on screen, really speaks volumes about how good this movie is. It's a fantastic movie and it has withstood the test of time for over 100 years. I'm very happy she enjoyed this work of art. She took a chance with this film and it really paid off. I watched this movie in a theater a few years back with a live band named The Invincible Czars playing along and it was phenomenal. My favorite silent movie is Phantom of the Opera, and I had the pleasure of seeing The Invincible Czars play along with that movie as well.
Fun fact: There is a 2000's movie called Shadow of a Vampire, where John Malkovich plays the director of Nosferatu 1922, and while he is filming it, he hires a real vampire (willem dafoe) to play the part of the vampire in this movie. It's a good meta watch.
Cassie watching a silent movie from 1922? Amazing! This is the same girl who refused to watch a movie that wasn't in color when she started her channel! You've come a long way baby! 👍😀
