This screening of Nosferatu (2024) was profoundly haunting, delivering psychological dread far beyond typical jump scares. Learn which specific character performances and shocking visual moments left the reviewer traumatized.
Short Summary
- The film closely tracks the narrative structure of the 1922 silent source material while escalating the horror elements.
- Bill Skarsgård's physical performance and unnerving voice created deeply unsettling moments, noted as effectively terrifying.
- The horror focuses heavily on possession, contagion (plague imagery), and psychological torment, particularly affecting the female lead (Ellen).
- Viewers should brace for visceral body horror and a tragic, highly sacrificial ending predicated on erotic embrace.
This deep-dive reaction covers the initial live viewing experience, key narrative parallels to the original 1922 silent film, and a full review immediately following the credits. The analysis highlights the exceptional acting range required for the material and details the intensely disturbing nature of Count Orlock’s presence as a manifestation of death itself.

Robert Eggers is an immensely talented guy, and he has one goal in life: to get modern audiences to understand why people feared the old mosters we make fun of today,
This is William Dafoe's second Nosferatu film, "Shadow of the Vampire" (2000) being the first.
Cassie: "I won't do The Exorcist. That's way too scary." Also Cassie: "I should watch Nosferatu. That will be fun!"
This is what a horror movie should be. Disturbing, beautifully tragic and thought-provoking.
13:03 His breathing is creepy because he's a revenant, he's literally a walking corpse. He doesn't have to breathe but he has to inhale air into whatever lungs he has left in order to be able to talk.
What’s the occult? Bless your heart Cassie.
"We need a Van Helsing." Uhh, he's right there.
I watched it in cinema. The mixture between beauty and disgust was really unsettling. This movie has the courage not to sugarcoat and go all the way into the disturbing imagery.
35:09 “Get a life!” — Cassie defeating ancient evil
Bill Skarsgard dove DEEP into this character, so much so that he was completely unrecognizable. The makeup, the voice, the demeanor was all put together so incredibly well.
