My lesson learned was not to try to slam down the entire gel. Talk about your gut locking up. I typically take half a mile or more to finish a gel.

What works for me is take the Gel just before the Aid Station and wash it down at the Aid Station with provided Electrolytes or Water....that way you aren't trying to get (10) things done at the Aid Station and you can get through relaxed and efficient.

Best tip I can give for gels/chews: make sure you can actually functionally open them with sweaty fingers during a race! I love Clif Blocks, but I have to pre-open the packages before I run. And NOTHING is more frustrating than when the "tear" tab on a gel doesn't work and you can't get into it! I always try to carry one extra for that reason (or in case I drop one).

I use baby food pouches. I'd never feed that garbage to my kids, but they're great for running!

I'm running my first half-marathon in Paris next weekend, so this video dropped right on time.

I swear by high 5 gels. Normal gels for winted and electrolye gels for summer. Never had an issue with these and they taste great.
