22:50 "Project yourself out to the age of 80" - Well, I am 80 next month, so I don't have to project very far! The fact is that I am now looking to start a brand new career (I don't know exactly what it is yet) and that is why I am watching podcasts like this. I didn't have any of this technology growing up, but I do now, and the ability to tap onto the world's wisdom and knowledge instantly is just extraordinary.
I was 17 when I watched my Dad die of brain cancer. He was brilliant, and it changed me forever. I then made decisions on not wasting my life meeting others expectations, but pursuing my own desires. So I made it to college for art (Western Mich Univ, like Terry Crews) and then moved out to the west coast, built my papermaking studio from scratch, while working in dentistry. I have never regretted it one minute. I just never gave up, just like you and Terry said. I decided to live my life without regrets. It's changed everything, as I move forward. Now I'm 70, and feel free from 'wishing' my life was different. I met every goal, and had to keep making new goals. Now I live in peace 💜
1) How would you do this thing if someone was going to pay you £1m to do it? 2) Project yourself out to the age of 80, what will give you the least regrets when you're that age? 3) Who is the love of my life?
Just want to shout-out to the caretakers, security guards, and all other honest support workers watching… I see you and I thank you…don’t be ashamed of a damn thing. You are enough.
Terry Cruz’s story is absolutely incredible!! I’m in a job that let’s be honest, I strongly dislike and doesn’t define me as a human being and what I’m going to accomplish in life. We have to remember our why at the end of the day, even when we go into these jobs we dread every single day. I’m going to go in every day to work asking myself how I’d do this job if I was being paid $1 million because this is just a part of the journey! Also, who’s the love of my life? ME!! Thanks so much for sharing that, Mel. You don’t know how much me and your millions do followers needed to hear that. Let’s keep doing our part to make this world a better placed. We all love you, Mel! Also, 2025 is our year, everyone!!
This is crazy, I was just thinking how I do not treat myself like I do others! You are the love of your life! Game changer!❤
Thank you for this Mel, this came a a new, dark point in my life. Massive injuries at work, lots of pain...and I'm feeling abandoned and uncared for after busting my hump in this role for the last 5 month and striving to be the very best I could be each day. Enough is enough, I deserve to be treated kindly...and it starts with me. ❤ I know whatever I do, I bring the very best of me each day. I did so in caring for my mother (solo) with dementia for 15 years, I have done so in my new career and I have done so in re-building my physical health and pursuing my dreams. And so now, I reach for the next step in my life...the next job where an employer will treat me well and they'll get nothing but the very best of me each and every day.
I live by this! I was at a gas station recently and saw one of the store cashiers outside cleaning the windows. As I watched her she seemed to wipe/smear the windows as if she was a little embarrassed. I approached her with a smile and encouraged her to “clean the windows like she owned the building!” She smiled back and became more enthusiastic in her “cleaning.” OWN your life and the little you have been entrusted with to tap into your own potential!
I first discovered you Mel about 7-8 years ago but I wasn't ready to listen to what you had to say. Fast forward to the Summer of 2023 when I decided to quit the corporate world as I was tired of working so hard for so little rewards, not the money, but not feeling fulfilled. That's when I started to listen to you again, and never missed a podcast since :) Thank you for forcing me to be honest with myself, for digging deep and for pushing me forward. I am now a more present mom, new-found artist, entrepreneur who is about to launch her first brand new invention at almost 50!! I know the 80 year old me will be proud of me ;)
