Been doing a Mediterranean paleo and not even knew it have always liked fatty fish lean pork so on and after cutting grains out my gut is far happier with me. So thankful for your take on this Thomas DeLauer

I’ve been doing the Mediterranean diet for about a year now. I have never been very overweight, but I’ve always lost and gained the same 15-20lbs. In the past I had tried everything to keep it off. Losing it has never been hard, but maintaining has always eluded me. The Mediterranean diet has been a godsend for me. I eat lean meats, lots of veggies and fruits, whole grains in moderation, soft cheeses in moderation, and I only cook in olive oil. I also gave up caffeine and I don’t consume any sugar substitutes. When I have an herbal tea I sweeten it with honey. The 20 extra lbs fell off and has stayed off. Eating a well balanced diet is the way to go. Depriving yourself of any food group is not sustainable long term, at least not for me. My labs are great and I feel great. I highly recommend the Mediterranean diet.

Sounds good. One thing, ancestral diet would include saturated fats. The whole animal was eaten with organs the prized. Having said that the fasting and high energy expenditure for work and exposure to environment probably offset the fats

Let's try not to make this too complicated.. we don't need studies for common sense. If you're curious as to why a study changes things on either side, check the study design

Another talk about a randomly controlled trial that wasn't controlled. Probably wasn't random either. Despite what has been speculated about saturated fat (often with a big nudge from food company sponsorship) there is no genuine evidence that it is harmful, unlike oxidised seed oils, which always seem to get unfairly ignored.
