It challenges the idea that emotions should be simple, contained, easily manageable. Society has this vested interest in keeping emotional processing shallow because deep emotional intelligence reveals uncomfortable truths about power dynamics, authenticity, manipulation, social conditioning. A person who can systematically analyze emotional patterns is harder to gaslight, harder to dismiss, harder to control. The "just keep it simple" crowd benefits from emotional illiteracy.
