I'm Brazilian. Back then when these were super cheap here in Brazil people would actually eat them like they were eating peanuts. My grandmother would get a handful and eat them while watching TV. She's still alive btw.

Few months ago I started to eat lots of brazil nuts and after two weeks my heart would start racing and I had tons of anxiety and restlessness. It took me two weeks to get back to normal, so please dont overeat them

Brazil nuts can cause alopecia likely through the exact mechanism you discuss. This happens to me with just 1 per week, patches of beard hair will disappear (baby smooth). Hair returns within a month of stopping. Dermatologists had no idea, it took me a year to figure it out on my own. I repeated the test 3 times to confirm.

I was surprised to see that eggs have quite a bit of selenium.

If I only safely can eat ONE Brazil nut per week, then it's gonna be zero Brazil nuts for me. I'm not going to go through the motion of eating 'the one weekly nut', that's ridiculous. I would also be throwing money in the trash, because I'm not going to keep a bag of nuts for half a year while I go through them.

In the 70's i lived in Germany, my parents were eating them without counting, brazilian nuts were with its hard shells and we used a nutcracker to break them.
