"A Silent Voice" has already been mentioned, and it will continue to be mentioned, I'm sure. It was released in 2016, a couple of months before Your Name (or maybe the other way around), so it's also celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. It's very different than Your Name, but every bit as good, and they're considered to be a tie for best anime film ever (or, perhaps, outside of Ghibli films). In addition, the director of Your Name followed up with a film called Weathering With You, which is also great, as is his next film, Suzume. Someone here also already mentioned Josee, The Tiger And The Fish, which is also great. There's always a battle between English dub vs Japanese, but all of these films do have very good English dubs, so for people who prefer that, you're in luck.

Hi Cassie & Carly, I have been watching foreign films for at least 40 years, and I can say that subtitled in their native language is always my first choice!

I saw this at the theaters and when the reveal of the comet hitting ended up wiped out Itomori and killing the majority of the people in the town including Mitsuha. You could hear a pin drop, absolute shock on every person in the theater. Its a moment Ive never had replicated before or since. The lake is based on the real life Lake Suwa and surrounding towns in Japan.

The good thing is that it unlocks ALOT OF ROMANCE ANIME for yall~
