I'm working as a rapid response nurse, and we see many patients with sepsis due to several reasons. One pt was in the ICU due to septic shock from colitis. As he got to the regular floor I had to see him as part of my responsibility. He and his wife knew about the new food pyramid for which I was surprised and happy. As we were talking they asked me what should he eat not to get this again. It turned out that he's also diabetic and they were surprised and shocked that he got pancake for breakfast, as diabetic. I had to explain what diet orders we have and the 1800 cal ADA diet means 225 gr of carbohydrates! Crazy! With colitis as soon as patients feel just a little better they can get full liquid diet. That means all sugary liquids. I am lucky enough to talk to them about stop drinking that and let the bowel rest. Start with broth, it's warm, it's salty and no sugar whatsoever. Then I venture into talking about slowly add healthy food, protein, good fat. At the end I advertise Dr Boz, Dr Berry etc.
The new food guide is good for people who are metabolically healthy - people who have diabetes should cut out all the grains and fruit.
Most doctors are the ones that need to be educated. When you try and share something they tell you, you are wrong that there is plenty of research to back them. After my "wellness" check he basically said I was 82 and could do what I want. I feel I'm healthy, I don't take any meds other than D3 and magnesium. My BP averages around 100/60. I'm very active (pickleball) . The only thing that was abnormal was my "Total Protein level" was high. He said we will watch it. I wish I knew what caused an elevated Total Protein level. I just try to share with my friends but they think I'm nuts. A lot of my friends are unhealthy vegetarians because they eat all of the fake stuff. Thank you Dr. Boz. I refer people to your channel and hope they will at least look.
'Saturated Fat Consumption should not exceed 10% of total daily calories.' What you missed about this statement is that it's the same exact advice about saturated fat that they used with the previous pyramid. In other words = No Change in the guidelines on saturated fat. It's a bamboozle.
My mother, when she was pregnant with me, craved sardines and mackerel. Canned, dried, and fresh. I loved 🐟, even before I came into this world. My mother learned to love too.

I just completed day six of primarily eating sardines, a medicinal amount of my own unsweetened SIBO nogurt, and keeping my carbs below 20 a day. I just ate a steak with butter for dinner and didn't finish it because I felt full and satiated. I almost never feel full and satiated! Praise the Lord! I feel so hopeful. 🎉
my Dad lived 87 years,and almost NEVER he got sick.😂
My dad and I used to share sardines when I was a kid—60+years ago. And I love them.
