I use to snack every day, developed insulin resistance and pre-diabetes. I started water fasting three day a week every week combined with one meal a day the rest of the days and completely reversed insulin resistance, and pre-diabetes, I also lost 50 pounds
My husband was diagnosed with diabetes in February of this year. He just had his 79th birthday. The doctor didn’t ask about diet. She said I can put you on Metformin and something like Ozempic. We had already decided to try diet and exercise so we said no. Asked her to retest his A1c in 3 months. She agreed, reluctantly. We bought otc cgms and started cutting out carbs in March. Bought at home A1c tests. The nearly immediate feedback of the cgm helped us KNOW exactly where we were messing up. He has lost 20 pounds and his A1c is in normal range. Not even prediabetic. We see the doctor in 2 weeks. With smiles on our faces.
My recent journey: I started intermittent fasting (18:6) back in February. In March, I added a low-carb approach to my meals. Then in April, I took it a step further by cutting out all snacks between my two meals. Sometimes I even do OMAD (one meal a day). What really surprised me is that food no longer calls to me—I don’t feel cravings. I used to need a sweet cereal bar after every meal, like a little reward. But now I’ve let go of that habit completely, and I don’t even miss it. I’ve lost weight, I feel more energetic, I sleep better, and I genuinely feel more at peace with myself. I also feel more motivated to study and think deeply—and I think even my memory has improved. I’ve been recalling vivid memories from many years ago, as if they had happened just last week. I watched one of Dr Ekbergs videos about insulin resistance around 10 months ago found it very interesting. I went on a Keto diet with intermittent fasting, eating 2 times a day. I was 252lbs, in 9 months I am down to 170 lbs and feel amazing. Thank you Dr Ekberg
I discovered Dr.Ekberg's videos after retiring in January. I made up my mind to start regular fasting on 4/5. I cut out all snacking, fasting at 48 hour water fast each week, OMAD on non fasting days. I also just completed my second 72hr water fast. The results exceeded my expectation. I know i lost weight. I have not weighed myself, but i am getting into pants that I have not worn in years. I have more energy. I can walk at a good pace for 1 to 2 hours even during my extended fasting days. I dont have leg or ankle swelling and no more tingling in my hands and feet. I am 62 yo and i can honestly say I have not felt this good in 25 yrs. I cant wait to go back to my Dr in July. That is when I am planning to get weighed. Thank you Dr Ekberg for the great work you are doing to educate us on healthy living.
