You won't believe how much I needed this video. Having two small kids and on low income makes me constantly feel I can't afford running anymore. If I need new shoes all the reviews I can find are for £300 shoes and sounds like "if you don't have these shoes you won't be able to be better". So from the bottom of my heart, THANKS SO MUCH 💝
Vinted has also been amazing for me, often find unused shoes and clothing that is often less than 50% off the new price.
Thanks for keeping it real Ben; refreshing amongst the podcasts/youtubers pedaling really expensive items that are so unnecessary for the majority; bi-carb is a great example! Also, really enjoying your half marathon plan - no race in mind, however just wanted to train consistently and enjoyably, and it is achieving both, so thank you!
forerunner 55 does everything i need from a watch and cant often find it for around 100
DIY gels are great. Maltodextrin and plain white sugar with some flavour and a touch of salt does the job for a fraction of the cost.
My Forerunner 35 just died after so many years and there's nothing exciting about buying a watch at today's prices. Then I remembered I could just run. I always take my phone anyway. There's something liberating about not worrying do much about the numbers and just focus on the run. I can still do my workouts no problem.
Decathlon is really my go to running apparel, not only running but other sports too, very good quality but for a very cheap prices 😍👍🏻
Don’t need gels. Just mix granulated sugar and sodium citrate in the water you will carry for that run. It’s super cheap and is an optimal glucose/fructose ratio.
Here in the US, I get all of my running clothes from thrift stores. You can't typically decide that you want an all new running outfit today and go get it all at the first thrift store you find, but I stop at my local shops periodically and grab the gear when its their.
Even cheaper than gels - honey! Or a boiled sweet. Decades ago, age 16, I went on a 20+ mile run over the hills and fells with a group of fell running guys on a Sunday morning. As usual, didn't eat much prior run. Was really enjoying the slower, than my usual, pace but after about 2 hours started to feel a bit weak. One of the chaps gave me a boiled sweet and told me to put it the side of my mouth. Did the trick!
