The biggest inspiration for running a marathon and believing I can do it, is watching you Ben, you’re a star 🫡 Since watching you, I’ve finished C2 5K, and finally got under 30 mins for the local parkrun. 10K event coming up in July and a half marathon in September - all following your beginner plans - thank you!

My Dad ran marathons a bunch back in the 70s and 80s, and was rejected from London all four times he applied. I started running two years ago, almost a decade after he died, and have applied for 2027. It's the only marathon I want to do, because it was the one he never got to do. Can only hope now... 🤷🏻‍♂️

Conistancy and rest are the key to a healthy running plan.

A difficult psychological aspect to get accustomed to is lack of support from people who don't run. They might be friends, family or work colleagues and can be surprisingly indifferent and unsupportive of your own running goals. Don't expect to be patted on the back. In fact they might try and actively deter you. Do it for you. If you feel you need the support look to the running community!

For anyone who wants shorts with lots of storage, I’d highly recommend decathlon’s kiprun 900 trail shorts. 5 pockets, 2 of which are zipped, so you can store you keys and phone safely. You can get a 500ml flask and 4 gels min in the front pocket, or at least 10 gels across that pocket & the other 2, as I did earlier today. They’re only £25 as well, absolutely fantastic value

By far the best running YouTuber. Much faster than me but not in any way condescending with it.
