Whatever FDA says I try to avoid it. I found myself in this rabbit hole of so many industry lies when I read 23 Former Doctor Truths book. Its no wonder why Doctor left her career.
The biggest problem i have with canola oil is that i grew up on a farm in western Canada . I KNOW there are sprays & chemicals used on canola crops ( as well as grain crops ) that im pretty sure they are NOT good for human consumption .
Seed oils are typically extracted using solvents and chemicals, unlike cold pressed oils such as pure olive oil, or avocado oil. The chemicals, such as hexane, are what disrupts a person's endocrine system. Bioengineered ingredients are terrible too. No matter what anyone says, I personally cut seed oils and Bioengineered ingredients out of my diet and now I no longer swell in my ankles and my appetite isn't outrageous anymore.
If seed oils were truly anti-cancer/diabetes I would think that the rates of diabetes and cancer would be plunging due to the fact that seed oils are used in most packaged foods, salad dressings, cooking oils... But they are going in the other direction just as fast as more and more seed oils are being used in place of saturated fats. The first officially recorded heart attack in the U.S. was in Boston in 1912. Today heart attack is a leading cause of death. Cancers were rare back then, now they are everywhere and being diagnosed younger and younger patients. Same with T2 diabetes and NAFL disease. They are showing up in children as young as 6. For sure, other things have changed in our diets over this time (think HFCS...) but those changes have been associated more with moving away from whole real foods towards factory fabricated and processed foods. I'll stick with Mother Nature's offerings - ones that have not been monkeyed with by man. I personally have been avoiding processed, highly processed and refined foods for over 2 years starting when I was 75. I am now pushing 78 but acting and feeling like I am 45 - 50. I won't intentionally get near a seed oil. I do use olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and beef tallow. As Doctor Ken Berry says: "Your body is smarter than your doctor - listen to it!".
I don't need a paper to tell me seed oils are bad.....I have my own experience. When I cut out seed oils I no longer get sun burned.....I have less joint pain...I retain less excess fluid. No matter what papers are presented to me I will continue to avoid seed oils in my diet.
So I eat about 3/4lb of ground chuck a day, and I used to eat some Fritos corn chips with it. I had gut inflamation and some digestive issues. Then I heard Dr Saldino talk about Soybean oil, and I noticed Fritos were full of it, as was the mayo I was using. So I cut out the mayonaise and the corn chips, and switched to potatoes I flat grill in salted butter. I was already thin, weighed about 159 lbs, but had a little bit of bloating around my stomach. Within 3 weeks I had lost nearly 5lbs and all of the swelling around my midsection was gone. Now months later I'm down 10lb, and weigh in the 140s yet I eat twice as many potatoes cooked in salted butter as I ever ate of Fritos corn chips. So not sure what to make of the science, I'm not that smart. But I do have some personal evidence at least that removing them from my diet resolved most of my digestive issues and also caused me to lose weight, even though my calorie count went up. Thoughts?
I have Arthritis in EVERY Joint in my body In Jan I was in 99% pain in 99% of my body.. I was taking the max dose of Ib's and tylenol EVERY DAY.. then I started the carnivore diet in Feb and went to maybe 3 doses a month... Fast forward to now, I haven't needed a pain reliever since the middle of sept and that is because I ATE popcorn popped in seed oil.. ( not thinking it wasn't air-popped) I don't give a rats ass who says seed oil isn't HORRIBLE for us it IS and if you eliminate ALL of the inflammatory foods out of your diet all you gotta do is EAT some and YOU will know for 100% sure it doesn't just cause inflammation it causes SERIOUS PAIN.. It was like I never got out of pain at all! And NOOOOO it wasn't the weight because All I did different was eat seed oil! everytime I get it it's pure pain in my joints!
I deeply respect the fact that you are willing to admit you don't have all the answers. That's why I take you seriously.
You eat it. I'll stick with my butter and tallow.
Being a Family Physician, I find your candor to be absolutely refreshing!!! It really cautions us primary care providers against getting too DOGMATIC about processes we have yet to completely understand…
